Do I need a lawyer to buy property in Cyprus?
It is not legally compulsory, but it is strongly recommended. An independent lawyer (not the developer's or agent's) verifies title, checks for mortgages or memos against the property, deposits your contract at the Land Registry to secure specific performance, and manages the transfer of title.
Should I make a separate Cyprus will?
If you own assets in Cyprus, a local will usually speeds up probate and avoids conflict-of-law complications. Under the EU Succession Regulation you may also elect the law of your nationality to govern your estate.
